As a result of experience and formal education, Alycia knows how to show you something you didn’t even know you were looking for. After receiving her degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Alycia continued her education at the International Wine Center in Manhattan while also landing her first job in the world of wine. Under the guidance of Barbara Shinn and David Page, along with winemaker Patrick Caserta, Shinn Estate Vineyards (now ‘Rose Hill’) showed Alycia the coalescence between vineyard and winery, as well as the significance of organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Upon moving to Connecticut she quickly became a leading sales contributor at Slocum & Sons Fine Wines & Spirits. After spending over a decade in beverage wholesale, Alycia decided to harness her passion into shaping what is now Connecticut River Wine & Spirits.
Michael’s first passion is music. His love for the arts has shaped a distinguished career as a musician and educator: he is a high school band teacher, as well as the manager of an 18-piece swing band. His passion for food and drink came from his now wife, Alycia; by mode of trying to impress her in their early dating days, Michael started venturing out to taste as many different wines and craft cocktails as he could.
Today, his attention is directed toward business behind the diverse and growing beverage world. He is eager to provide our customers with a comfortable shopping experience, and upon meeting him, you will leave our store with a new friend. He is deeply interested in the natural wine movement, with a particular affinity for orange wine, but he’ll never say no to a well-made Manhattan.
In 2022, Alycia and Michael set out on a mission to create a store that blended a unique selection of products, without sacrificing the essentials, with a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Being lifelong musicians and music enthusiasts, they have built a space where great music meets an unsurpassed selection of wine, beer, and spirits.
